Jiaxing sits on the Grand Canal and its old waterways are knit together by stone arch bridges, many still in daily use. Yanyu Bridge on South Lake is the most photographed — three arches, a long level deck and willows on both banks; Duanping Bridge is the plain, working one locals actually cross.
