Herzog & de Meuron's museum wraps a horizontal slab in thousands of ceramic tubes and cuts a huge T-shaped screen into the harbour-facing end, which is used for projections at night. Inside are 20th-century visual culture collections; outside, the rooftop garden looks straight across to the island skyline.
